Huntersville, NC (June, 2017) – MPV Properties (MPV) and Bowman Development Group are pleased to announce plans for the beginning of a new 30-acre development in downtown Huntersville, NC, which will be a new phase of the existing Vermillion development and will be called Vermillion Village. The project sits along North Church Street and Huntersville-Concord Road at the Gilead Road exit 23 off Interstate 77. Vermillion Village will be a joint venture between Bowman Development Group and MPV Properties, and will include a 78,000 SQ FT supermarket along with 18,000 SF of additional retail shops. Bowman also has plans to develop an additional 400 residential units as part of the project. The Huntersville Town Board approved plans for the center on June 5, and the land sale is expected close in July.

Development plans for the site formally known as “Anchor Mill”—a remnant of its textile mill past—began back in 1998, but never came to fruition. Today the town and community hope the project will breathe new life into the eastern side of downtown Huntersville. The approval comes with a commitment from the developers to provide at least $250,000 toward necessary road improvements to handle the anticipated increase in traffic activity. The Town of Huntersville and NCDOT are providing input for the improvements, which could include widening of  Huntersville-Concord Road at the site, additional turn lanes at the Ramah Church Road and Glendale Drive, and the Huntersville-Concord Rd and Asbury Chapel Road intersections, along with improved neighborhood flow and access points.

The estimated timeline for the project is 3-5 years, with the retail portion being developed first. Steve Vermillion of MPV Properties—whose name is coincidental to the project—serves as a development consultant on the project. MPV will handle the commercial development portion, while Bowman Development Group will manage the residential component.
